For everybody who didn’t know: I flew out to Tortola again today. For everybody who did know: I arrived safely in Tortola. I’m really tired (we had a lay-over of 5 hours) and don’t have a lot to tell. I got on a plane, got out after a while, waited for a longer while, got on another plane, waited a short while and landed on Tortola. It’s like taking a train or bus, only more stupid security measures and more waiting, I guess. It was uneventful which is a good thing I guess, since an eventful plane-ride might mean it’s time to get the life-vest out from under your seat.
Anyway, time for bed. I’ll bug you guys later!

Some beautiful lyrics from a song called Long Way to Happy from Pink:
I’ll keep on rolling down this road,
But I’ve got a bad bad feeling.
It’s gonna take a long time to love,
It’s gonna take a lot to hold on,
It’s gonna be a long way to happy,
Left in the pieces that you broke me into.
Now I’m numb as hell and I can’t feel a thing,
But don’t worry about regret or guilt cause I never knew your name,
I just want to thank you ,
Thank you ,
From the bottom of my heart,
For all the sleepless nights ,
And for tearing me apart.

Tomorrow I’ll be flying to Tortola again, which is a good thing. Here at the office in Curacao there is not a lot of work for me. The challenges are waiting for me in Tortola. Unfortunately, the messed up schedule and the lack of hanging around the house in daytime like with my other job, have a negative effect on my average calling time. This means that I didn’t have the time to call some of my friends and family just to catch up. Hopefully we’ll be moving to Tortola soon and everything will be back to normal in a very different way
For all the people that didn’t hear from me (other than via my blog), I’m really sorry. The paperwork, the planning, the moving, the flying up and down and all the other small things that need to be arranged before we can move, have taken up most of my time. And in all fairness, the times that I wasn’t busy with all that crap, I was sitting on my ass (because I thought I deserved it). I’ll let you know when I’ve landed on Tortola (especially for ‘the family’, so nobody will have sleepless nights).

It has been pretty quiet on my blog lately. There is so much stuff going on, that I’ve been to busy to write something. We are sorting things out for the whole moving-to-another-island thing. If you move to another address, but the same country it’s not as complicated; you just pack your crap, rent a big truck or hire some movers and off you go to your new home. The whole inter-island moving is a different story; you pack your crap, rent a big truck or hire some movers, have them take your crap to the harbor, have the crap shipped to probably Miami, then a new boat and new company takes your crap to the island you’re moving to, now we’re almost there, because you need yet -another- company to get your crap from the harbor on Tortola actually into your new home. The good part about all this crap moving is that we don’t have to do it ourselves. The company is arranging for the movers who will actually do the packing for us as well as all the shipping. I’m listening to Acda & de Munnik (for people who don’t know; two singing guys ;)) and I’ve just heard a nice quote:
“Vergeet het oude schip en geniet van het verbranden”
I’m not really sure how to translate that. Something with burning an old ship and enjoying it while you’re at it. So I guess that’s what I’m going to do. A new page or more like a new book and it’s going to be a blast
I won’t settle for anything less, especially since I’ve had a hard time the first 6 months in Curacao and I’m sure as hell not going to repeat that!

I have downloaded a new ringtone for my phone. I couldn’t help myself, it’s to darn funny! It’s Yoda from StarWars saying:
‘The phone, ringing it is! Press the button you must! And fulfill you destiny!’
It’s just to cool, to actually have an enormous amount of ringtones to choose from. You just hook you phone to your laptop using mini-USB/USB and you put it on there. I’m not great with all these high-tech gadgets and it takes me only about a minute (when I’m awake enough). Now my phone is pretty cool, although I might rip Bram’s ringtone, he has the same phone and has a very familiar ringtone. It is the tune they used for a dutch tv-show called ‘Expeditie Robinson’ and Bram is telling me it is also the soundtrack for the movie(s) ‘The Pirates of the Caribbean’. Bottom line: my phone is cool and there are a lot of cool ringtones out there as well!

I feel a bit weird. I love to have a challenging job and try to get the most out of myself. But I feel a bit homeless as well. I’m a person that loves to just hang around the house, not doing a whole lot in particular. Now I only have a small hotel room, that I have to share with someone. I’m not saying that’s a problem, I’m saying the space is very limited and I’m not feeling at home in a hotel room. On the island I do feel at home and I am certain everything will be fine when everything is finalized and we can get an appartment here. For now I mis my house and all of my own stuff. Quite a familiar feeling I must say
Luckily almost all of my attention is going to my job at the moment. We had the ‘Grand Re-Opening’ today, since we rebuild and redecorated the new store. Customers where very happy with the result and therefore I was very happy today. It was an experience on itself to see how a big public event is handled here. People on Tortola are very religious and there was a priest there to have a prayer and also a guy in a weird robe or something doing some sort of ‘blessing ceremony’. He was walking around the store waving a small branch with some leaves on it around. It was a really cool experience and people here really inspired me. I’m not going to change into someone religious all of a sudden, but I do enjoy the ceremonies that come with almost every big event. Anyway, I’ve been standing on my two feet from 9 o’clock until.. well 9 o’clock I guess and ofcourse I was stupid enough to actually wear heels. So, I’m gonna get some shut-eye and mainly getting the weight of my feet. I’ll bug you guys later!

I’m very tired at the moment, so just ignore the typo’s if they’re there. I just wanted to let all of you know, I’m ok
That’s rather important I guess. I’m working my behind off, as everything here is very busy at the moment. We finally got us some competitors instead of having monopoly over this market. The office is full of people that are actually supposed to be in the Store, but the Store is being upgraded
So it’s busy, crowded en noisy. Fortunately, Friday afternoon the store is opening for the public. However, I will not be able to be there, since I’m flying out on Friday morning. But I’m not complaining. I have been sleeping in a hotel for about two weeks now and I’ve noticed I really like to have some more room to move around in. I can’t cook here, so I’m not always happy with the ‘choices’ I have as far as meals go. So I’m happy and a bit bummed that I’ll be leaving Tortola soon. The happy part is having my own house, with my own stuff, on the island I got to know. The bit bummed part is not being able to be there for all the cool stuff that is about to happen at the office. Ah well, everything positive has a down-side right?
I’m off to bed now, making sure I won’t wake up with a keyboard-pattern on my forehead.

Yay! Bram arrived to Tortola today. He had his last day at Scarlet the 29th and flew to Tortola on the 1st. I’m very happy he is here, so I have some one to talk to about everything. He had a very uneventful flight with a long lay-over, but he made it. And now it’s time to get some sleep. I’ll bug you guys later!
